How do the artist Rainer Werner Fassbinder and an independent film festival like Snowdance fit together? Whereas Fassbinder used subsidies for his productions and also repeatedly made common cause with the public broadcasters?
Anyone familiar with Fassbinder and his working methods knows that he is nevertheless one of the most independent filmmakers not only in Germany, but also in the world.
Fassbinder never rested on the secure financing of a film, but accepted every financial risk without hesitation. He consistently pursued his own ideas of uncompromisingly capturing them on paper and celluloid and has become a role model for many national and international filmmakers.
